Spring, summer, and winter

In the span of about 2 weeks we have experienced all three seasons.  In that order.  

New friends

Lots of new friends this year.  Cats from all over stop by to eat every day.  Two of them decided to stay.

Tom Tiger.  A gentle and shy cat who took over Queenie's house this fall.  He is very large and drinks excessive amounts of water.

An old cat who moved under the house this winter.    She stays with Queenie.  I call her Mrs. Selby though I think she is called Mama one block over.  I was surprised when she came forward to be petted.  Now she will even sit on my lap.  She has probably given birth to a majority of neighborhood cats though she is spayed now.

Sweet little Dexter who I adopted for my birthday.  He is 13 years old. He seems to be settling in and is trying new foods and toys each week.  I'm so glad that I got him.

Happy Easter

Too far behind with spring cleaning to muster up the full range of Easter decorations this round.  You can read into that, "I'm not sure where I put all of them."

These are rabbits that I made repairs to.  Feet and ears were recreated with paper clay.  

Summoning Spring

Another spell of single digit temperatures and snow brings doubt that Spring will ever come.  But some forecast temperatures in the 50s next week.  So I will try to think positively and wish spring to arrive sooner than later.

One year on

I set up this blog one year ago today.  Like many people, I have struggled through this long winter.  I haven't accomplished much or felt like posting on the blog.

But today, the literal calm before the storm prompted a brief walk with the dogs.  We walked down to the old oak grove.  

A mallard couple were also having an outing.

Then we headed home to wait for the next bout of winter weather.

The Beauty

I brought home Fern's ashes on Christmas Eve. Fern passed away on December 15th around 6 in the morning.  She was the big spot of comfort in between the other two dogs and she leaves a huge hole in our family.  Fern was a class act right to the end.
